Early Stages

Since 1988 we've been recording our jam sessions on tape cassette. In 1999 I digitized the archives for reference. Any moments of magic relevant to this track, I've extracted and present here.

Figuring out the chords (1994):

As much as I would love to take credit for this chord sequence, here's Walter figuring it out in one take in 1994. He's playing chords on the D-50 and stomping on the hold pedal while playing the bass and piano riff. We didn't keep the 5/4 time signature, though.

Interlude 1 demo (1996):

This version is almost entirely sequenced on the Korg M1, except for the guitar and D-50 "glass voices" pad. We prepared this particular version for a film project by Gavin Endicott, but it was unused.

That wonderful guitar drone is produced by using a device called an "E-Bow".

Interlude 1 demo (2006):

We're getting pretty close to the final version at this point. I can hear some timing issues... I ended up re-recording pretty much everything by the time I'd finished with it.
