The Great Spam Experiment

I read somewhere that people don't chose the unsubscribe option (when offered) on spam emails because the popular belief is that they don't work, or cause you to get even more spam. According to the article I was reading, this is not true.

I get a lot of spam email. I wouldn't win any "most spam received in one day" prizes, but it is enough to be a nuisance.

As an experiment, I have decided to follow the "unsubscribe" instructions in each peice of spam, where possible. I have been doing this since December 20, and making a note of each unsubscription attempt for each day, and keeping the spam in a separate email folder. I expect to see some kind of trend appear over the next few months, but in which direction it will be I don't know. Hopefully it will be a trend of receiving less spam!
